The competition tasks of this skill category are based on the competence area in ventilation fitting of the Vocational qualification in building maintenance technology.

The qualification titles of the basic qualification are ilmanvaihtoasentaja (ventilation fitter), kylmäasentaja (refrigeration fitter), lämmityslaiteasentaja (heating equipment fitter), putkiasentaja (pipe fitter), rakennuspeltiseppä (construction sheet-metal worker) and tekninen eristäjä (technical insulation fitter).

The professional who have completed this qualification works according to the competence area for example in construction industry, in property maintenance as well as in the employment of municipal water, sewage, and energy utilities.

Description of the skill category

The competition tasks of this skill category are based on the requirements and criteria of ”Excellent” in the competence area in ventilation fitting of the Vocational qualification in building maintenance technology. The competition tasks consist of sheet metal work, ventilation equipment and channel installations, as well as measurements and adjustments.

Competitors work following the instructions and drawings, given in competition. They proceed completing parts of entireties. The assessment is carried out for a part of entirety. The competition certificate can be used as a base for demonstration assessments at educational institutions.

The competition is individual.

Four competitors from the same training centre of an education institution can enrol in semifinals of this skill category.

Skill requirements

Competition tasks include channel installing, terminal equipment installing, part manufacturing, as well as tasks, concerning measurements and adjustments. A theory task consists of making a part list and pricing the parts.
